Job Description

 

 

The Graphic Designer is responsible for designing, creating and managing all marketing and promotional materials for Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. This position will be in charge of providing creative vision to the marketing department in all areas and across all departments and Fresh Thyme products.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Designs and manages a wide variety of projects and media (print advertising, outdoor advertising, collateral, 3D graphics, digital etc.
  • Exceptional print production skill and efficient speed in Adobe CS5 applications.
  • Mid-level to advanced retouch skills.
  • Mocking up large-scale graphics and print collateral.
  • Monitors projects through all phases of production and communicates with team members.
  • Works with vendors and merchandisers and provides knowledgeable consulting expertise on merchandising and marketing projects.
  • Creative Ability to design ads, brochures and other print and present materials when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in marketing, advertising, visual communications or related business field – or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive expertise with InDesign, PMS/Pantone Color, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and all relevant design experience.
  • 5+ years previous graphic design experience or advertising experience in a retail environment.
  • Previous experience in a food or natural foods industry is a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
  • Excellent creativity and design skill that can be demonstrated.
  • Proficiency in: CS5, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign. Knowledge of Flash and web applications a plus.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Ability to take direction from senior management.
  • Ability to efficiently interface with multiple departments and groups.
  • Solid understanding of printing process, photography, illustration, layout, typography, logo development, brand look and feel.
  • Proactive ownership of projects and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent visual, written and oral (business) communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing high volume retail while working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Must have advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational skills is essentialMust be able to support and contribute to team goals.
  • Excellent creative thinking skills.

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • The potential for prolonged standing, walking, squatting and/or bending.
  • The ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/vendors/staff.
  • Requires at least 25% travel.
  • Must be able to support and contribute to team goals.
  • Excellent creative thinking skills.
